ABOUT US

We're the New Kinver Players: a group of award-winning, dedicated dramatists who put on plays for the pure love of it, both in our home venue in Staffordshire, and across the country.

WHERE ARE WE BASED?

In Kinver, Staffordshire, and our members come from far-and-wide to join in with our activities.  We rehearse at the Edward Marsh Centre (formerly the KSCA) in Kinver twice a week and perform our twice-yearly productions there too.

We also write plays, and take productions to festivals and other venues: we enter festivals, and hold workshops and one-off performances through the year throughout the country: in 2023 we performed our abridged version of Vita & Virginia at the Edinburgh Fringe and then took the play on a country-wide tour. We also take our productions to theatre festivals including twice to the Edinburgh Fringe and tour them in avrious suitable venues across the country too.  Vita and Virginia is an example of a recent play we abridged and took on a 15-date tour over 12 months between August 2023 and August 2024.

Plus, we've performed - for two years running - a play in the National Trust's Rock Houses.  The Spirits of the Rock was written by Martin Ward from NKP, and commissioned by the National Trust.

WHAT'S THE MAIN AIM OF THE GROUP?

There are two: to produce varied drama to a high standard for audiences to enjoy, and to enjoy ourselves while we're doing it!.

WHO RUNS THE GROUP?

We're run by a committee consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and committee members.  they're responsible for running the group as well as organising social events, publicity, the website, box office, mailing list and members' newsletter.

We also have a recently-formed Production Planning Group.  They look after play readings, and basically everything to do with the choice of plays we decide on.

DO WE RUN A PATRONS' SCHEME?

Yes we do.  For an annual fee of £24, NKP Patrons receive the red carpet treatment!

"NKP have succeeded again with a play that was memorable and impressive. Carefully designed, with a strong team, talent and a strong love for theatre, it was indeed a great night."
